What do I need for the first time?

We ask that you fill out a waiver before entering our facility, either with our e-waiver from the homepage of our website or with a paper waiver at our facility before climbing. Every climber must have a waiver on file before they are able to climb. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian fill out a waiver. This waiver cannot be filled out by a relative, friend, sibling, grandparents, group leaders, or anyone else who is not the climber's parent or legal guardian.

What is route setting?

Every Wednesday, we close a portion of our facility in order to set new climbs for our regular members. The sections rotate depending on the week, and the sections open at 6pm. Wednesdays are typically not advised as a day for new climbers to come in the morning and early afternoon because there is a chance a good number of our introductory climbs will be unavailable.

Do we need to take a class before climbing in the facility?

You do not need to take any class before climbing here. It is very easy to start climbing at Top Out and we give each new climber an orientation to our walls and an introduction to all types of climbing we offer. Staff members will be able to walk you through everything you need to know in order to get you climbing safely.

I've never climbed before, can I climb in your facility?

Absolutely! We welcome anyone to come climb in our facility. Our staff will be able to walk you through everything you need to know in order to get you climbing for your first time!

What should I wear?

Climbing is an active sport. We recommend wearing comfortable, loose fitting clothing. Anything you would wear to workout at a standard gym would be ideal.

What do we need to rent?

In our facility we rent climbing shoes and harnesses. Climbing shoes are special shoes designed to stick onto the climbing holds better than a typical tennis shoe would. The rubber is extremely sticky and makes for a more enjoyable and safe climbing experience as you will not be slipping off small holds. A harness allows you to utilize our auto-belay wall, which is a great place to get used to climbing a wall with the extra safety of a rope.

What time of day is your busiest?

Weekday evenings are our busiest times as this is when most of our members frequent the facility for a workout. Weekend afternoons can be busy depending on if a group is in the facility.

What types of climbing do you have?

We have two types of climbing at our facility. We have top rope with an auto-belay device and bouldering. An auto-belay is a mechanical device that will catch and safely descend a climber in the event of a fall. These types of climbs are slightly different styles, with both types offering both beginner and advanced climbing. All of our climbs can be climbed without a partner.

Do you offer instruction on knot tying or leading?

We do not have any knot tying instruction nor leading in our facility.

What is the best age to climb at your facility?

Our facility is designed more for adults than children and the majority of our climbers fall between 18 to 45 years of age. The minimum age that we would recommend starting climbing at our facility is 9 years old. At this age they will be able to complete some of our easiest climbs, but they will have a difficult time climbing the majority of our facility. With 200 routes in our facility, the more experienced you are, and the more frequently you climb, the more routes you will be able to complete.

What is the minimum age to climb?

The minimum age to climb within our facility is 5 years old, however we recommend climbers to be at last 9 years old.  Young children usually have a difficult time climbing at our facility as our climbs are designed for adults.

Can I just drop my kids off and let them climb?

Children younger than 12 years old must be supervised by a parent or legal guardian at all times.

DO YOU OFFER GROUP DISCOUNTS OR BIRTHDAY PARTIES?

We do not offer traditional birthday party packages or group discounts.  Therefore, we do not have a separate party room to open presents in, and we don't allow food to be served to guests.  However, if you wish to celebrate your birthday you are welcome to purchase individual day passes and rentals for your climbers.
